MILWAUKEE - Rockwell Automation (NYSE:ROK) has announced a collaboration with tech giant NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA), aiming to drive the future of industrial operations with a next-generation industrial architecture. This partnership seeks to simplify the digitalization of industrial processes for automation customers, focusing on creating "factories of the future."

These advanced manufacturing facilities are expected to feature enhanced sensing, accelerated compute capabilities, advanced simulations, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), and generative AI to improve information access for frontline operators. Jordan Reynolds, Rockwell's VP of Artificial Intelligence and Autonomy, expressed confidence that the collaboration will add value across Rockwell's product spectrum.

Rockwell plans to integrate NVIDIA's Omniverse Cloud APIs with its Emulate3D digital twin application, enhancing data interoperability, collaboration, and visualization in the design, building, and operation of industrial-scale digital twins. Rev Lebaredian, NVIDIA's VP of Omniverse and Simulation Technology, highlighted the growing demand for computing power to develop these large-scale digital twins.

The partnership is also a response to the labor shortage and the need for increased efficiency in manufacturing and logistics. By leveraging NVIDIA's robotics platform for edge AI, Rockwell aims to deliver advanced AMRs, following its acquisition of OTTO Motors, and process automation applications to industrial clients.

A Rockwell survey indicates that 83% of manufacturers anticipate incorporating GenAI into their operations in 2024, viewing AI as a key driver of business outcomes. NVIDIA has joined the Rockwell Automation PartnerNetwork, allowing Rockwell customers to use NVIDIA applications to enhance operational resilience, agility, and sustainability.
