Sept 23 (Reuters) - Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening 60
points higher at 5,890 on Wednesday, according to financial bookmakers.
* 888 HOLDINGS: British lobbyist Jonathan Mendelsohn will be named as the
next chairman of gambling firm 888 Holdings 888.L , Sky News reported on
Tuesday. * GLENCORE: Glencore 's GLEN.L head of Africa copper on Tuesday said its
Democratic Republic of Congo subsidiary Kamoto Copper Company (KCC) is ramping
up to full production and should produce 270,000 tonnes of copper as cathode in
2020. * LLOYD'S OF LONDON: Lloyd's of London on Tuesday asked its employees in the
UK to work from home following guidance from the government. * DIPLOMA: Technical products and services provider Diploma DPLM.L said on
Tuesday it will buy Windy City Wire Cable and Technology Products to extend its
presence in the United States, and also resumed dividend payments. * OIL: Oil prices fell on Wednesday after an industry group reported a
surprise rise in U.S. crude, adding to worries about demand that led to a steep
selloff earlier in the week. * GOLD: Gold prices eased for a third straight session on Wednesday as the
dollar climbed to a near two-month high, though uncertainties surrounding global
economic recovery limited the bullion's decline.
* The UK blue-chip index .FTSE closed 0.4% higher on Tuesday, after Prime
Minister Boris Johnson introduced restrictions to curb a resurgence in COVID-19
