Investing.com -- Liz Truss has resigned as Prime Minister of the U.K., less than two months after taking power.
In a brief statement outside 10 Downing Street, Truss said she recognized that she could not deliver on the mandate for a low-tax, high-growth economy that she had received from Conservative Party members in a leadership contest that stretched over the summer.
Truss said there will be a new leadership contest within a week.
