Henry Boot to develop £162m aviation campus at IWM Duxford

CAMBRIDGE - Property developer Henry Boot PLC announced its property development arm HBD has been appointed as development partner for Duxford AvTech, a £162 million aviation innovation campus at Imperial War Museums (IWM) Duxford.

The 25-acre project, located 8 miles south of Cambridge within the Oxford-Cambridge Arc, will create a 435,000 square foot campus focused on developing low and zero carbon aircraft technology. The development is a partnership between IWM and Gonville & Caius College, a constituent college of the University of Cambridge.

According to the company’s press release, the development aims to create an aviation technology hub that connects academia, industry and government. HBD plans to target high sustainability credentials for the campus, including BREEAM Excellent and EPC A+ ratings.

The project is expected to create 1,200 new jobs and generate an estimated £64 million in additional gross value added to the Cambridgeshire economy. The next phase involves preparing detailed development plans with the aim of submitting a planning application before the end of 2025.

Tim Roberts, CEO at Henry Boot, described the appointment as "another important milestone" for the company’s property development business.

The Duxford project follows HBD’s recent approval for the first phase of the £1 billion Golden Valley scheme in Cheltenham, which includes plans for approximately 1 million square feet of commercial space and 576 residential units.

Henry Boot, listed on the London Stock Exchange since 1919, operates across urban development, industrial, logistics and residential markets in the UK. The company’s development arm, HBD, currently manages a development pipeline valued at £1.2 billion.
