China chip stocks fall as US considers allowing Nvidia H200 sales
Investing.com -- Amazon founder Jeff Bezos will serve as co-chief executive officer of a new artificial intelligence startup called Project Prometheus, which focuses on AI for engineering and manufacturing of computers, automobiles and spacecraft, according to a report by The New York Times on Monday.
The company has reportedly already secured $6.2 billion in funding, with Bezos contributing a portion of this amount. This substantial investment makes Project Prometheus one of the most well-financed early-stage startups globally.
This marks Bezos’s first formal operational role since stepping down as Amazon CEO in July 2021. While he remains involved with Blue Origin, his space company, his official title there is founder.
Bezos will share leadership responsibilities with Vik Bajaj, a physicist and chemist who previously worked closely with Google co-founder Sergey Brin at Google’s X research division, often referred to as "The Moonshot Factory."
Project Prometheus has already built a team of nearly 100 employees, recruiting researchers from leading AI organizations including OpenAI, DeepMind and Meta.
