Surface Transforms appoints automotive veteran Paul Marr to board

LONDON - Surface Transforms plc (AIM:SCE), a manufacturer of carbon fibre reinforced ceramic automotive brake discs, announced Friday the appointment of Paul Marr as a Non-Executive Director with immediate effect.

Marr brings extensive automotive manufacturing experience spanning over 35 years at General Motors, where he held leadership positions including Complex Director and Plant Manager overseeing major operations in the US and Mexico.

Following his career at GM, Marr served in senior roles at several automotive companies including Getrag, VIA Motors, GAZ Group, and Remy International, managing large-scale operations across multiple countries. He holds an M.S.M. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BSc in Industrial Engineering from Kettering University.

Earlier in 2025, Marr worked with Surface Transforms on behalf of an OEM customer, supporting the company’s operational turnaround plan before joining the board.

"I am honoured to be joining the Board. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Surface Transforms’ continued growth and success," Marr said in the press release statement.

Kevin Johnson, CEO of Surface Transforms, expressed confidence that Marr’s experience in manufacturing, operations, and strategic leadership would support the company’s goals of operational excellence as it expands its manufacturing capabilities.

According to the announcement, Marr, 72, owns no ordinary shares in the company and currently serves as a director of PRM Professional Consulting LLC.
