2023 has been a great year for build and development in Cardano and there is so much more to look forward to in the Cardano ecosystem in 2024.Cardano embraced and laid the foundation for sustainable community governance through #CIP1694 and the launch of Cardano’s member-based… pic.twitter.com/oSUacwMP1O— EMURGO (@emurgo_io) December 27, 2023
EMURGO mentioned that Cardano laid the foundation for community governance through the on-chain decentralized governance mechanism CIP 1694 and the establishment of Intersect, a member-based organization.
Looking ahead to 2024, the upcoming Chang hard fork promises to be a pivotal moment, marking the initial steps toward a minimum-viable community-run government. With the consent of the Cardano community, this hard fork introduces a consensus mechanism, kickstarting the bootstrapping period for the Cardano governance model.
Moreover, EMURGO claimed that 2024 is set to witness major strides in achieving full community governance for Cardano. Plans include Cardano constitution workshops, conventions, voting events, and continued progress from Intersect.
Cardano’s blockchain has become an ecosystem for decentralized applications in areas like DeFi and NFTs, according to EMURGO. Notably, the platform enables token issuance without the necessity of smart contracts, reportedly simplifying entry into Web3 and facilitating the tokenization of real-world assets.
EMURGO noted that over 150 projects have launched on Cardano, with over 1,300 currently in development. This growth is propelled by multiple programming languages for smart contract development, including Plutus, Marlowe, and the newly introduced Aiken, accompanied by open-source tools available to developers.
Looking ahead to 2024, EMURGO added that Yoroi Wallet, the first light wallet for the Cardano ecosystem, is poised for further enhancements. With over 38 integrations in 2023, Yoroi Wallet is committed to providing a seamless experience for both mobile and desktop users.
