  • CoinMarketCap data shows the crypto AI market volume has collapsed by over 13% amid the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT rival.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT has just gotten a new capable rival as the renowned tech behemoth Google unveiled its latest artificial intelligence model, Gemini. This launch comes a year after OpenAI’s ChatGPT initiated a spirited race in AI development.

Per the official statement, Gemini comprises three variants: Gemini Ultra, Gemini Pro, and Gemini Nano, which are tailored for specific tasks and mobile devices. Google noted that Gemini exhibits versatility in handling text, images, and video, heralding it as a groundbreaking AI model.

Notably, the initial release of Gemini is integrated into Google’s existing chatbot system, Bard, which is now accessible in over 170 countries and territories. Also, Gemini will be open to developers through Google Cloud’s API starting December 13.

During the presentation of Gemini, Google showcased several demonstrations highlighting the AI model’s prowess in handling visual information. One notable demonstration featured Gemini responding to a video where someone drew images, devised simple puzzles, and sought game ideas involving a world map.

Additionally, two Google researchers illustrated how Gemini contributes to scientific research by effectively answering questions about a research paper featuring graphs and equations.

According to Eli Collins, the Vice President of Products for Google DeepMind, Gemini Pro, which is the model introduced this week, surpassed the earlier model that powered ChatGPT, GPT-3.5. Specifically, Collins mentioned that it outscored ChatGPT on six out of eight commonly used benchmarks assessing AI software intelligence.

Meanwhile, Google shared that Gemini Ultra, which would debut in 2024, outperforms all other models, including OpenAI’s GPT-4, scoring 90% on the Massive Multitask Language Understanding (MMLU) benchmark.

Notably, OpenAI’s GPT-4, the engine behind the latest iteration of ChatGPT, astounded audiences upon its March debut this year. However, the coming of Google’s new advanced AI system has failed to trigger positive excitement in the crypto AI market. Instead, the crypto AI market has plunged deeper into a significant bearish trend in the last 24 hours.
