  • Donald Trump unveils his third NFT collection: Trump Digital Trading Cards MugShot Edition.
  • Trump’s latest NFT release prompts scrutiny, as new NFT releases have been known to crash the prices of his earlier collections.
  • Data from the NFT Price Floor indicates Trump’s NFTs maintain value, with the floor price for Digital Trading Cards exceeding its initial price.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled his third collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), known as Trump Digital Trading Cards MugShot Edition. Announced via Trump’s Truth Social account, the newest collection sets itself apart by offering not only digital collectibles but also physical versions of the cards.

Collectors purchasing 47 NFTs in a single transaction are promised one of these unique physical cards, potentially signed by Trump, containing an authentic piece of the suit worn by the former president in his viral mugshot photo. Meanwhile, those buying 100 NFTs at once and paying with cryptocurrency will receive two physical cards and VIP tickets to a gala dinner at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

The announcement comes after the success of Trump’s previous two NFT collections, which collectively generated an impressive $9 million in sales. The initial batch, “Trump Digital Trading Cards,” introduced in December 2022, sold out within a day, netting a substantial $4.4 million. The second release proved equally lucrative, amassing approximately $4.6 million in under five hours.

As Trump unleashes the MugShot Edition, market observers are closely monitoring the performance of his earlier NFTs. Back in April, the release of Trump’s Series 2 NFT cards crashed the prices of his previous NFT collection, causing the secondary market value of the original NFTs to plunge 50% within hours.

Data from the NFT Price Floor reveals that Trump’s NFTs have maintained their value, with the floor price for Trump Digital Trading Cards standing at 0.16 ETH, or $346 at the time of writing, which is above its initial pricing of $99. The Series 2 collection, however, has a floor price of 0.0269 ETH, or $63.24.

Interestingly, the Collect Trump Cards website reveals that the latest NFT cards are non-transferrable until December 31, adding an element of suspense to their market value. With around 8,000 already minted, as per NFT marketplace OpenSea, the end of the month will determine whether Trump’s latest collection can break the trend of declining values or if it will face similar challenges as its predecessors.
