  • A prankster sought to honor Satoshi for pioneering an inclusive financial system.
  • Senator Warren reportedly approved the request, sending a flag honoring Nakamoto.
  • Investigators suggest the endorsement might not have come from Sen Warren.

U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts may have found herself unwittingly honoring Satoshi Nakamoto, the elusive creator of Bitcoin, after years of antagonizing cryptos.

The drama unfolded through a prank orchestrated by an anonymous Bitcoin enthusiast, who exploited the U.S. government’s flag program. This program enables members of Congress to nominate individuals or groups for recognition.

Emphatically, the prankster submitted a request acknowledging Nakamoto for pioneering “the first truly inclusive financial system.” Senator Warren’s office reportedly sanctioned the request, sending a flag honoring Nakamoto.

Bitcoin Magazine circulated the certificate, suggesting that Senator Warren, a consistent critic of cryptocurrencies, might have changed her perspective. Notably, over the years, Warren has built a reputation for opposing the adoption of Bitcoin. Last year, she led an initiative prohibiting traditional financial institutions from engaging with the leading cryptocurrency.

Considering her history of anti-Bitcoin stances, it came as a surprise to many that the senator would authorize the flying of a flag in honor of BTC’s pseudonymous creator at the U.S. Capitol.

Besides, this development fueled accusations of potential negligence, raising questions about the level of scrutiny applied to official documents. Daniel Modell, head of marketing at PubKey, stated, “If they’re not reading simple things like a certificate, how deeply do they read the legislation?”

However, social media investigators have noted that the Bitcoin endorsement might not have originated from Senator Warren herself. XRP community figure Crypto ERI echoed similar sentiments.

Eri highlighted that anyone can complete a form, select the size of the U.S. flag, make a payment, and have it flown for anyone for any occasion for about $26.00, plus a $9 certificate fee.
