Gold prices edge lower; heading for weekly losses ahead of U.S.-Russia talks
Investing.com -- Foxconn Technology Co Ltd (TW:2354), the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer, posted a 27% year-on-year rise in second-quarter operating profit, driven by rapid growth in its artificial intelligence server business.
Revenue for the quarter was NT$1.79 trillion ($59.73 billion), matching LSEG SmartEstimates, while operating profit reached NT$56.60 billion, above the NT$49.77 billion forecast.
Net profit came in at NT$44.36 billion, beating expectations of NT$38.81 billion.
The company, officially known as Hon Hai Precision Industry and the biggest producer of Apple’s iPhones, is expanding beyond consumer electronics into AI, producing server racks tailored for AI workloads and working closely with U.S. chipmaker Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA).
Foxconn expects strong year-on-year revenue growth in the third quarter, with AI server sales projected to surge more than 170% from a year earlier.
Full-year revenue is also forecast to grow significantly, in line with guidance issued in May.
Shares ended 0.5% higher on Thursday before the earnings announcement.
