Investing.com-- The U.S. House of Representatives on early Friday morning narrowly voted in favor of $9 billion spending cuts outlined by President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency.

The legislation– which outlines spending cuts in foreign aid and public broadcasting– will now head to Trump’s office to be signed into law. The spending cuts were largely outlined by DOGE, which was formerly led by billionaire Elon Musk.

The House approved the measure in a 216-213 vote, with only two Republicans voting against the measure.

Passage of the bill now confirms some of DOGE’s proposed spending cuts, which were a key priority for Trump and his administration, which has constantly criticized high government spending.

Trump welcomed the passage of the bill in a social media post.
