S&P 500 slips, but losses kept in check as Nvidia climbs ahead of results
Investing.com-- U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that he is considering reallocating $3 billion in federal grants from Harvard University to trade schools across the country, citing concerns over antisemitism and national security.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump accused Harvard of being "very antisemitic" and criticized the institution for allegedly delaying the release of information on foreign students, whom he referred to as "radicalized lunatics".
"We are still waiting for the Foreign Student Lists from Harvard so that we can determine, after a ridiculous expenditure of BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, how many radicalized lunatics, troublemakers all, should not be let back into our Country," Trump wrote on Monday.
This statement follows the Trump administration’s recent freeze of $2.2 billion in federal funding to Harvard after the university rejected demands to dismantle diversity programs, cooperate more closely with immigration authorities, and address antisemitism on campus.
Harvard has responded by asserting the university’s commitment to academic freedom and constitutional rights, and has sued to restore the funding.
