NAIROBI, May 15 (Reuters) - The following company announcements, scheduled economic
indicators, debt and currency market moves and political events may affect African markets on
Friday.

GHANA - The central bank announces its latest benchmark
lending rate decision.
NIGERIA - The statistics office releases its consumer
inflation data for April.

GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian stocks struggled to extend gains on Friday and were on
course to end the week lower as deteriorating U.S.-China
relations undercut optimism over the reopening of major
economies. MKTS/GLOB

WORLD OIL PRICES
Oil prices rose on Friday, extending day-earlier gains, as
data showed demand for crude picking up in China after the
easing of curbs to stem the coronavirus outbreak, boosting
hopes that the global supply overhang may start to

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS
South Africa's rand weakened on Thursday as demand for
emerging currencies continued to ebb due to growing concerns
over the impact of the coronavirus on the global
economy. CURRENCIES
The Nigerian naira is seen weakening in the days ahead on
the back of accumulated demand, while the Kenyan shilling
could steady as importer appetite in the energy sector
sags. MARKETS
The Kenyan shilling KES= edged down against the dollar on
Thursday and traders said the central bank had intervened to
curb volatility in the previous session. ELECTRICITY
Uganda said on Thursday it is preparing to open up to
private investors the transmission business of its
electricity sector that officials say needs billions of

Sierra Leone is weathering a dramatic crunch in mining
revenue as COVID-19 restrictions hurt companies' ability to
export gold and diamonds and access essential
supplies. CURRENCY
Zimbabwe will introduce higher denomination bank notes to
increase the amount of cash in circulation, the finance
minister said in a government notice on Thursday, at a time
inflation is soaring and pushing prices beyond the reach of
