Nvidia demand continues to outweigh supply, JPMorgan says
Investing.com -- Apple Inc. is developing an artificial intelligence-powered web search tool scheduled for launch next year, which will compete with offerings from OpenAI and Perplexity AI, according to a report from Bloomberg News.
The system, known internally as "World Knowledge Answers," will be integrated into the Siri voice assistant, according to sources familiar with the matter. Apple plans to eventually extend this technology to its Safari web browser and Spotlight search function on iPhones.
The company aims to release this service, which some executives describe as an "answer engine," in spring as part of a major Siri overhaul. The technology will enable users to search for information across the internet through Apple’s operating systems, similar to ChatGPT, Google’s AI Overviews, and other new applications.
Apple may source some of the underlying technology from Alphabet Inc.’s Google, its longtime internet search partner. The companies reached a formal agreement this week allowing Apple to evaluate and test a Google-developed AI model to help power the voice assistant.
