Reuters reported on Wednesday that Mobileye (MBLY) has received orders for shipping 46 million EyeQ6 Lite assisted-driving chips over the next few years.

Mobileye is currently selling the EyeQ6 Lite in major markets worldwide. Nimrod Nehushtan, the company's Executive Vice President of Business Strategy and Development, told Reuters in an interview that cars equipped with this technology will be launched in the middle of this year.

He reportedly stated: "The 46 million represents the amount of EyeQ6 Lite (business) that we have won to date."

"So it will grow, and it will be rolled out over the course of the next few years."

The new EyeQ6 Lite chip is a more powerful version of the previous one. It has been manufactured using a 7-nanometer process by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. The new chip has 4.5 times more computing power than its predecessor.

Furthermore, Nehushtan told Reuters that it "can support all five-star ratings globally but be extremely power efficient and cost-efficient."
