Investing.com -- Tech billionaire Elon Musk said Wednesday that he regretted some social media posts he made last week during a public dispute with U.S. President Donald Trump.

"I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far," Musk wrote on the X social media platform.

The disagreement ended what had been a close alliance between the two figures. The public falling out raised market concerns about potential impacts on Musk’s businesses, including Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) and SpaceX.

Tesla shares rose 1.7% in pre-market trading following Musk’s latest post.

Analysts see this as a smart move, with Robotaxi launch on the deck, now anticipated to be on June 22.

"This is an important step with Musk apologizing for some of his back and forth with Trump that started this battle between the former BFFs. As we said this week, Musk needs Trump and Trump needs Musk. We believe this is an important step to the two becoming friends again and allies on a number of topics," according to Wedbush analysts.

The fallout between the two began after the billionaire CEO, who briefly served in an advisory role, openly criticized the President’s tax and spending bill.

Last week, Trump expressed disappointment in Musk’s conduct. Musk replied on X with several posts, claiming Trump owed his election win to Musk’s support.

In one post, which was later deleted, Musk also referenced Trump in connection with the late Jeffrey Epstein, a financier who died in custody while facing sex trafficking charges. Epstein’s lawyer has since denied any such links.

The tension escalated further when Trump posted on Truth Social, accusing Musk of having “lost his mind” and hinting at terminating federal contracts held by Musk’s companies.

At one point, Musk even posted content appearing to support efforts to impeach the President.

By Saturday, Trump said that their relationship had ended. However, he later softened his tone, suggesting he wouldn’t mind if Musk reached out with well wishes.
