Investing.com -- Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) has paid a fine worth 906 million rubles (1 RUB = $0.01334) in relation to an antitrust case in Russia, according to a statement on Telegram from Russia's Federal Antimonopoly Service quoted by Reuters.

The news service said the FAS ruled in 2020 that Apple's distribution of its apps through its iOS operating system granted an uncompetitive advantage to the U.S. tech giant. The FAS then ordered Apple to remove provisions that would give it the ability to reject third-party apps on its popular App Store.

Apple has said that it "respectfully disagrees" with the decision. According to the FAS, the company had unsuccessfully appealed it at several stages, but ultimately decided to pay the fine.

California-based Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.

Last month, the FAS said in a separate case that it had slapped a fine of $17.4M on Apple for allegedly forcing developers in Russia to use its payment services on the App Store.

Apple limited its pay services and halted product sales in Russia after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine last year.
