Stock market today: Stocks fall as investors rotate out of tech into Jackson Hole
Investing.com-- Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has officially launched a six-seat variant of its Model Y in China, the Model Y L, and begun accepting orders, the company said on Tuesday on its Chinese social media platform.
The new Model Y L features a longer wheelbase than the standard Model Y, providing additional cabin space, especially in the third row. Tesla has priced the vehicle from 339,000 yuan (about $47,200), amid fierce competition from local rivals in the segment.
Tesla previously teased the Model Y L as “coming soon” in a Weibo (NASDAQ:WB) post that included a promotional video, confirming earlier regulatory filings that outlined its extended body and six-seat configuration.
The launch comes as Tesla grapples with declining China sales. In July, sales of its China-made vehicles fell 8.4% year-on-year.
Deliveries of the Model Y L are expected to begin in September.
