Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac shares tumble after conservatorship comments
Investing.com -- U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Thursday that he does not plan to harm Elon Musk’s businesses by removing government subsidies, contrary to recent speculations.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump addressed rumors about his intentions toward Musk’s companies.
"Everyone is stating that I will destroy Elon’s companies by taking away some, if not all, of the large scale subsidies he receives from the U.S. Government. This is not so!" Trump wrote.
The president emphasized his support for Musk and American businesses in general, stating: "I want Elon, and all businesses within our Country, to THRIVE, in fact, THRIVE like never before!"
Trump added that business success benefits the entire country, saying "The better they do, the better the USA does, and that’s good for all of us."
He also claimed the country is "setting records every day" and expressed his desire to maintain that momentum.
Musk’s companies, including Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) and SpaceX, have received government subsidies and contracts over the years. Following the public fallout between the billionaire entrepreneur and the President, Trump has made numerous remarks about the potential cancellation of such deals.
