Microvast Holdings announces departure of chief financial officer
Investing.com-- Autonomous driving firm WeRide Corp (NASDAQ:WRD) has received approval to operate commercial robotaxi services in Beijing, a significant expansion of its autonomous ride-hailing network, the company said on Wednesday.
The permit allows WeRide to provide robotaxi services between the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA) and Beijing South Railway Station, one of the busiest transportation hubs in China, the company said.
Starting Wednesday, passengers can book rides via the "WeRide Go" app.
The company said its autonomous taxis are equipped to handle the complex traffic patterns around Beijing South Railway Station, which sees more than 150,000 passengers daily.
Shares of the company closed 1.7% higher at $16.58 on Wednesday before the announcement.
WeRide, which operates in nearly 10 cities globally, has been accelerating the commercialization of its self-driving technology.
In December, it partnered with Uber Technologies (NYSE:UBER) to deploy the largest robotaxi fleet in the Middle East.
The company said it plans to further expand its services in Beijing, including at airports and other major transit hubs.
