Nvidia among investors in xAI’s $20 bln capital raise- Bloomberg
Investing.com -- Apple is preparing to launch a new AI-powered web search feature for Siri, known internally as “World Knowledge Answers,” in spring 2026, according to a Bloomberg report.
The feature, potentially powered by a customized version of Google’s Gemini model, would allow Siri to deliver richer and more conversational responses, closer to ChatGPT-like functionality. The feature is expected to extend beyond Siri into Safari and Spotlight.
Bank of America (BofA) analysts argue that Google remains Apple’s most logical partner as generative AI transforms search into a multimodal assistant. Voice search could be the next frontier, embedding AI agents more deeply into daily routines.
Google already benefits from its distribution on iOS, and a potential deal would extend Gemini’s reach across Apple devices, “potentially driving billions of additional queries as AI capabilities grow the market," BofA analyst Justin Post said in a note.
"Google remains the most logical partner for Apple, as Alphabet’s superior ad monetization capabilities are likely to maximize revenue from the integration, making the partnership strategically attractive for both sides," he added.
An agreement would also mark a strong endorsement of Google’s AI progress against high-profile entrants. Analysts said such a deal would demonstrate the company’s ability to modularize its Gemini models for third-party use cases, from search to messaging and system-level assistants.
If embedded in Safari and Spotlight, Gemini would further entrench Google in Apple’s ecosystem, reinforcing its competitive and distribution moat, Post continued.
The analyst also pointed to regulatory dynamics. He noted that uncertainty around the recent search remedy ruling had limited Google’s ability to sign new distribution deals. But with the court allowing non-exclusive traffic acquisition cost agreements, Google “will be more active with deals to drive Gemini adoption.”
Broader promotion of Gemini across Google’s own products could also open new monetization channels while easing investor concerns over intensifying AI competition and driving a higher multiple.
