HgCapital Trust appoints Graham Paterson as non-executive director

LONDON - HgCapital Trust plc (LON:HGT) announced Wednesday the appointment of Graham Paterson as a Non-Executive Director and Audit, Valuation and Risk Committee’s Chair Elect, effective immediately.

Paterson, who brings over 25 years of experience in private equity and is a chartered accountant, was one of the founding partners of SL Capital Partners (WA:CPAP) LLP, where he served as a Partner and Board Member until 2010. During his tenure at SL Capital, he managed Standard Life (LON:ABDN) Private Equity Trust plc and sat on advisory boards for various private equity fund managers.

In 2013, Paterson co-founded TopQ Software (ETR:SOWGn) Ltd, a technology company developing software for the private equity industry. The company was later acquired by eVestment Inc (now part of NASDAQ Inc) in 2015, where Paterson served as a Director of the private markets data and analytics business until early 2018.

Currently, Paterson holds non-executive directorships at Diaceutics (LON:DXRX) plc, Baillie Gifford US Growth Trust plc, Artemis UK Future Leaders plc, and Gresham House Income & Growth VCT plc. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, having qualified with PwC, and holds an MA Hons in Economics and Management from St Andrews University.

Upon joining HgCapital Trust, Paterson will serve on the Audit, Valuation and Risk Committee, the Nomination Committee, and the Management Engagement Committee. Subject to his election at the company’s 2026 Annual General Meeting in May 2026, he will assume the role of Chair of the Audit, Valuation and Risk Committee, replacing Richard Brooman, who will retire from the Board at that time.

Jim Strang, Chairman of HgCapital Trust, said in the press release that Paterson’s skills would complement the company as it continues "executing its strategy of investing in a portfolio of high-growth private companies in the software and services sector."
