Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac shares tumble after conservatorship comments
KARACHI - Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) announced Thursday a gas and condensate discovery at its Faakir-1 exploratory well in the Bitrisim Exploration License area of Khairpur district, Sindh Province.
The well, spudded on December 31, 2024, was drilled to a depth of 4,185 meters in the Sembar Formation. OGDCL holds a 95% working interest in the project, with Government Holdings (Private) Limited owning the remaining 5%.
According to a press release statement, two Drill Stem Tests conducted in the Lower Goru Formation yielded a combined production of 6.4 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and 55 barrels per day of condensate through a 32/64" choke. Wellhead flowing pressures were recorded at 450 psi and 850 psi respectively.
This marks the first discovery in the Lower Goru Formation within the Bitrisim license area, specifically from the Basal and Massive Sands intervals.
OGDCL stated the discovery is expected to contribute to reducing Pakistan’s energy demand-supply gap and add to the hydrocarbon reserves of both the company and the country.
The drilling operation utilized OGDCL’s in-house expertise in collaboration with its joint venture partner.
