GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian stock markets rose on Tuesday after a record-setting day on
Wall Street, while Bitcoin paused for breath after an overnight
endorsement from Tesla Inc TSLA.O sent the cryptocurrency up

WORLD OIL PRICES
Oil prices edged up on Tuesday to their highest in 13 months as
supply cuts by major producers and optimism over fuel demand

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS
South Africa's rand weakened on Monday after the country's COVID-19
vaccination plan suffered a setback over the weekend as the
government put on hold the use of AstraZeneca (NASDAQ:AZN)'s AZN.L

KENYA MARKETS
Kenya's shilling KES= was stable on Monday with little activity in
the market from both exporters or importers, traders
said. ECONOMY
Nigeria will need to increase its value-added tax (VAT) rate to at
least 10% by 2022 and 15% by 2025 from 7.5% now to boost revenues
after it recovers from a recession, the International Monetary Fund
said on Monday. HEALTH
Nigeria has not yet found the South African variant of COVID-19 in
its population and will continue with plans to distribute the
AstraZeneca AZN.L vaccine, the head of the country's primary
healthcare agency said on Monday. ELECTION
An alliance of Somali opposition parties proposed the creation of a
national council of lawmakers, opposition leaders and civil society
to govern the Horn of Africa nation after the president's term
expired on Monday with no clear succession plan. AFRICAN REPUBLIC SECURITY
A convoy of humanitarian aid reached the capital of Central African
Republic on Monday - the first since attacks by rebel groups blocked
a major transport route from Cameroon in January, the U.N.

Tanzania expects its public spending to rise 4% in the fiscal year
starting in July due to high debt-servicing costs and a growing wage
bill, according to budget papers presented on Monday to
