Investing.com-- Several Waymo self-driving cars were set ablaze and destroyed by protestors in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, social media and local news coverage showed, amid violent demonstrations against immigration raids.

A spokesperson for Waymo, which is backed by Google owner Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL), confirmed that the company’s cars were damaged during the protests, and that the company was in touch with law enforcement.

They also said there was no reason to believe that Waymo was being specifically targeted by the demonstrations.

The protests, which had now stretched into a second day, consisted of a few hundred demonstrators protesting against immigration raids carried out by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

President Donald Trump over the weekend deployed the National Guard in LA amid continued protests and civil unrest over the president’s immigration crackdown. Trump also lambasted California Governor Gavin Newsom over the violence.

Other White House officials called the protests a “violent insurrection.”
