GLOBAL MARKETS

Asian shares rose to their highest in more than a year on

Tuesday, as trade deal optimism and Wall Street's run to

all-time highs supported sentiment, while familiar fears of

a hard Brexit knocked the pound. MKTS/GLOB

WORLD OIL PRICES

Oil prices trickled a fraction lower on Tuesday but remained

near a three-month high as investors kept the faith with

hopes that a fully fledged U.S.-China trade deal is in the

pipeline, set to stoke oil demand in the world's biggest

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS

South Africa's rand was flat against the dollar on Friday,

struggling for direction after surprise gains in the face of

a darkening growth outlook following a week of nationwide

power cuts and ongoing uncertainty over U.S.-China trade

talks. SOUTHSUDAN

The United States has imposed sanctions on two senior South

Sudanese officials it accuses of fomenting conflict, the

U.S. Treasury Department said on Monday, in its latest move

to pressure the country's politicians to form a unity

government. AIRWAYS

Kenya Airways KQNA.NR named the head of its low-cost

subsidiary as its new acting chief executive officer on

Monday after its current boss announced his resignation in

May amid the loss-making carrier's renationalisation

process. CANNABIS

Zambia has legalised the production and export of cannabis

for economic and medicinal purposes, the government's chief

spokeswoman said on Monday, becoming the latest country to

shift its position on the drug to give its finances a boost.

EMIRATES

A South African delegation will meet officials in the United

Arab Emirates to discuss why the country has not ratified an

extradition treaty, South Africa said on Monday, as it tries

to investigate a case of alleged influence-peddling.
