Veeco launches Lumina+ MOCVD system, receives Rocket Lab order
Investing.com -- Sanmina Corporation (NASDAQ:SANM) stock surged over 30% Monday following AMD (NASDAQ:AMD) and OpenAI’s announcement of a strategic partnership to deploy 6 gigawatts of AMD GPUs.
The market reaction comes as investors connect the partnership to Sanmina’s pending acquisition of ZT Systems’ data center infrastructure manufacturing business from AMD, announced in May. Under that agreement, Sanmina will become AMD’s U.S.-based new product introduction (NPI) manufacturing partner, potentially positioning the company to benefit from AMD’s expanding AI infrastructure deals.
The AMD-OpenAI partnership involves OpenAI committing to purchase 6 gigawatts worth of AMD’s chips, starting with the MI450 chip next year. While the exact impact on Sanmina remains uncertain, the company could benefit if OpenAI or its partners commission Sanmina to build racks with AMD GPUs.
Following the announcement, BofA Securities analyst Ruplu Bhattacharya commented, "We view this announcement as overall positive for Sanmina, as it shows that AMD’s chips are gaining traction in the market."
