D-Wave Quantum falls nearly 3% as earnings miss overshadows revenue beat
Investing.com-- The Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) Cybertruck received a 5-star safety rating from the top automotive regulator in the U.S., a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration showed this week.
The NHTSA rated all variants of the Cybertruck- 2024, 2025, as well as the different drive configurations- at five stars in safety. The rating is the highest possible safety rating a vehicle can receive in the U.S.
The NHTSA rated the Cybertruck at 5 stars for frontal and side crash protection, and at 4 stars for rollover protection. The rating comes after rigorous crash testing by the agency, which is part of the Department of Transportation.
The NHTSA rating helps quell some concerns over the safety of the Cybertruck. Critics had argued that the vehicle’s angular form, sharp edges and stainless steel exoskeleton presented risks to pedestrians.
The vehicle had seen 26 complaints, two investigations, and seven separate recalls since its launch in late-2023, due to issues involving its accelerator, windshield wipers, and some structural faults.
Tesla has sold nearly 30,000 Cybertrucks as of end-2024, representing a fraction of electric vehicle maker’s overall sales.
