Albion KAY VCT PLC is a venture capital trust specialized in early stage and growth stage investments. The fund prefers to invest in healthcare technology, information technology, data, and artificial intelligence, fintech and communication technologies sector companies. The fund invests primarily in securities of unquoted companies and in companies whose shares are traded on Alternative Investment Market operating in the areas of information and communication technologies, and healthcare. It does not invest in companies that deal in property or shares and securities, banking, and agriculture. It invests in United Kingdom and invests in shares or securities including loans with a five year or greater maturity period. It also invests in a portfolio of listed equities and fixed interest securities. The gross assets of a portfolio company must not exceed £15 million ($17.39 million) immediately prior to the investment and £16 million ($18.55 million) immediately thereafter. The maximum each portfolio company can receive from State Aided risk capital schemes is £5 million ($5.80 million) in any twelve-month period. Portfolio companies may have up to 250 employees., including VCTs, in the 12-month period up to and including the most recent such investment.
