Optos plc, a retinal imaging company, develops, manufactures, and markets ultra-widefield imaging devices for primary care, optometry, and ophthalmology markets in United Kingdom and internationally. The company’s medical devices produce optomap images by facilitating early detection, management, and treatment of disorders and diseases evidenced in the retina, such as retinal detachments and tears, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration. It provides Silverstone, an UWF retinal imaging devices that captures optomap-guided OCT scanning across the retina and into the far periphery; Monaco, a UWF imaging device with integrated OCT to enhance clinical exam; and Daytona, an UWF retinal imaging device. The company also rents its devices. Optos plc was formerly known as Besca Limited and changed its name to Optos plc in April 1996. The company was incorporated in 1992 and is based in Dunfermline, United Kingdom. Optos plc operates as a subsidiary of Nikon Corporation.
