VERBUND AG, together with its subsidiaries, generates, trades in, and sells electricity to energy exchange markets, traders, electric utilities and industrial companies, and households and commercial customers. The company operates through Hydro, New Renewables, Sales, Grid, and All Other segments. The company provides generation from hydropower; generation from wind power, photovoltaic systems and flexible storage; and trading and sales activities related to battery storage systems. It also operates hydropower plants with a capacity of 8,468megawatts (MW); wind farms with a capacity of 874 MW; solar power with a capacity of 308 MW; and two thermal power plants. In addition, the company owns and operates an electricity transmission network, and a gas transmission pipeline and distribution network in Austria, as well as trades in and sells gas. The company was founded in 1947 and is headquartered in Vienna, Austria.
