National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation provides members with financing its members to supplement the loan programs of the Rural Utilities Service of the United States Department of Agriculture. The company offers loans to rural electric members to acquire, construct, and operate electric distribution, generation, and transmission systems, as well as related facilities. It also provides credit enhancements in the form of letters of credit and guarantees of debt obligations. In addition, the company manages the financing activities of the rural telephone finance cooperative, which provides financing for its rural telecommunications members and their affiliates. The company was incorporated in 1969 and is headquartered in Dulles, Virginia.
