SMRT Corporation Limited, an investment holding company, provides multi-modal land transport services in Singapore and internationally. It operates through eight segments: Rail Operations, Bus Operations, Taxi Operations, Rental, Advertising, Engineering Services, Other Services, and Investment Holding and Support Services. The Rail Operations segment operates North-South-East-West and circle lines of the mass rapid transit system; and the Bukit Panjang light rapid transit system. The Bus Operations segment provides public bus services. This segment offers approximately 102 bus services with a fleet of approximately 1,200 buses. The Taxi Operations segment offers taxi services; and taxi rental services, as well as sells diesel to taxi hirers. This segment manages a fleet of approximately 3,500 taxis. The Rental segment engages in commercial space leasing, retail operations, and property management activities. This segment manages a network portfolio of approximately 34,000 square meters of commercial space. The Advertising segment sells and manages media spaces and marketing solutions; and e-commerce platform. The Engineering Services segment provides consultancy, project management, and rail engineering services; and leases fiber optic cables. The Other Services segment offers charter hire, and repair and maintenance services. This segment operates a fleet of 80 buses in various capacities with 45 bus services that provides bus chartering services for commercial and corporate clients, as well as for various national events; and operates an educational institution that develops and delivers transport related training and education services for transport operators, government institutions, companies, and individuals. The company was founded in 1987 and is based in Singapore. SMRT Corporation Ltd is a subsidiary of Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited. As of October 25, 2016, SMRT Corporation Limited was taken private.
