Varta AG, through its subsidiaries, engages in the research, development, production, and sale of micro and household batteries, large-format batteries, battery solutions, energy storage systems, and large-format lithium-ion cells in Europe, Asia, North America, and internationally. The company operates in six segments: Consumer Batteries, Micro Batteries, Lithium-Ion Small Cells, Lithium-Ion Large Cells, Lithium-Ion Battery Packs, and Energy Storage Systems. The Consumer Batteries segment offers alkaline batteries, including rechargeable batteries, chargers, portable power (power banks), and lights. The Micro Batteries segment provides microbatteries and hearing aid batteries and serves the healthcare sector. The Lithium-Ion Small Cells segment offers wireless headphones (hearables), and wearables. The Lithium-Ion Large Cells segment manufactures large-format, lithium-ion round cells. The Lithium-Ion Battery Packs segment offers industrial and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). This segment also focuses on solutions for portable industrial applications, communications devices, electric power tools, devices used in medical applications, and devices for use at home and in the garden. The Energy Storage Systems segment develops and manufactures energy storage systems for private households and commercial customers. The company was founded in 1887 and is headquartered in Ellwangen, Germany. Varta AG operates as a subsidiary of Montana Tech Components AG.
