Gulf United Energy, Inc. operates as a development stage oil and gas exploration company primarily in Peru and Columbia. It holds a 12.5% working interest in the 345,592 acre CPO-4 block in the Llanos Basin, Columbia; 40% working interest in the 2,803,411 acre Z-46 offshore block in the Trujillo Basin, Peru; 5% participating interest in Block XXIV, an approximately 276,137 gross acre concession; and a 2% participating interest in the Peru Technical Evaluation Area. The company also holds a 50 % participation interest in the VIM-2 Block that covers an area of 148,513 acres and is located in the Lower Magdalena Valley, northwest Colombia. As of August 20, 2012, its gross land position consists of three million acres. The company was formerly known as Stonechurch, Inc. and changed its name to Gulf United Energy, Inc. in March 2006. Gulf United Energy, Inc. was founded in 2003 and is based in Houston, Texas.
