The company was founded in 1923 and is headquartered in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania. As of February 28, 2020, CSS Industries, Inc. operates as a subsidiary of IG Design Group Americas Inc. On July 3, 2025, CSS Industries, Inc. filed a voluntary petition for reorganization under Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. It is in joint administration with Lion Ribbon Texas Corp.
